Step 1 determine the size of the crack.
Wood glue to fix bed frame.
Tighten them until you can see the glue oozing out but don t go overboard you don t want to add more damage to the frame especially if the bed is.
Apply wood glue to one side of the scrap wood and place it on the inside over the split.
Wood filler tends to shrink as it dries so be sure to pack it in tightly and a little above the surface so when it dries it will fit perfectly.
Cracks and splits one of the most common problems develop if the bed frame doesn t have adequate support.
Repeat the same steps for all cracks on the bed frame.
If squeaks on your wood bed frame reoccur remember to re tighten screws bolts readjust the slats adjust the wood going to the headboard adjust the wood going to the footboard and apply wax to any areas that constantly squeak.
The split is typically along horizontal grain lines on either side or at either end of the frame.
Fix it with glue clamps and some scrap wood.
The size of the crack in your bed frame wood will dictate what type of repair needs to be made.
The next step would be to put bar clamps all around the frame.
Tricks of the trade.
Make sure the glue has saturated the inside of the crack.
Drill 1 screws into your pilot holes and let the frame dry overnight again before you place your bed back on it.
